The Strand
Of course we had to visit a bookstore while in New York. Here's Rose in the Strand, mentioned in tour guides as an excellent place. There was plenty of it, that's for sure.

Trump Tower
Rose stands next to a mirrored wall in Trump Tower, New York. We happened upon the place as we were exploring the city so went in to look around a bit. It was gold everywhere. Light level was low and I had no tripod thus the slightly shaky look.
Window Shopping
New York City was wonderfully fashionable. I took a picture of this window because I loved these clothes so much -- most especially the mini-skirt/fitted blazer look. Manhattan Sept 2006.

Brick/Windows
Buildings in Manhattan. Concept: to showcase varying colors, repetition of line and like texture. Execution: failed to get it in focus; PhotoShop tweaking didn't overcome primary problem.

Out the Hostel Window
A bit of sky can be seen from the window of our hostel -- the Continental, 330 W. 95th St. Not much to it, but that's the nature of hostel's -- just a tiny room with a bunk bed and a chest of drawers with a community bathroom down the hall. On the plus side: our floor was very quiet, the stay was affordable and we were just blocks from Central Park!

In the City: Naked Cowboy
One of the wonderful things about New York is that it is full of street performers. The Naked Cowboy, aka Robert John Burck, has a Wikipedia entry. He earns his keep from tourists such as ourselves. We had our picture taken with him and tucked a tip into his shorts.
