Aunt Jane's Funeral

Aunt Janes Funeral
Richard shovels dirt on the coffin. All her boys and most of the cousins, including me, took a turn. It felt really strange, like getting punched in the stomach, but at the same time very healing. Boyds at the funeral were Ray Sr., Richard, Raymond Jr., Ramona with Rose and G.P., and Cathy.

This was a very un-interesting cemetery, boring even. There are no gravestones, only plaques set flat in the ground with vases poking up to hold the flowers -- very sterile-looking, nothing for the undead to hide behind. Asheville, North Carolina, March 2008.
