Rose called from boot camp last night -- the obligatory "I made it safe" call that all incoming recruits are required to make. Here's what she said -- just this and no more; in a impersonal tone of voice. Her drill instructor was right there with her, watching every move. Recruit training is formative. Not really all that difficult if you are in shape, but the idea is to make the recruit think in different ways. The end result is positive. I found it to be mentally challenging.
My prayers go out for Rose and for you, who have to let go when she is so young.
