Our Coyote
The dogs and I saw a coyote while we were hiking out on Rock Creek Open Space. He howled and barked at us. This might be the one that Bandit played with two weeks ago.

Here's our coyote friend following us. I love him but hope I don't get eaten by him the way the grizzly bears ate Grizzly Man.

Our coyote friend continues to follow us, barking and howling, as we hike the Rock Creek Open Space in Lafayette. Both dogs and I were spooked. This picture just breaks my heart, because the coyote is all alone and because development is encroaching on his habitat. Photo Friday: Monochrome.
Thistle with Ant Hill
Assignment to self: take an interesting picture while out hiking on Rock Creek Open Space. Besides the coyote that followed us, there was this thistle which I framed with an ant hill. I hoped to show more of the thistle's brightly colored center, but had to shoot from the side in order to frame the plant with the anthill.
