The shadows on these stairs change, of course, not only throughout the day but throughout the year. I haven't seen this zig-zag look since I took this picture.
From Sept. 11 - 18, 2005, in Broomfield, Colorado, a field of 5200 flags honored those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, and those who have died since then in the war against terrorism.

This rattlesnake was found basking on the farmhouse driveway. He was quickly dispatched as rattlers aren't allowed to live near the house. He had a mouse in his stomach. We ate his flesh and liver.
