In a field of sunflowers along Hwy 287 between Lafayette and Longmont, Colorado. The heads are getting heavy and starting to bow over; this is the last weekend that any good shots will be available.

When Mel Sliced Her Toe
Melanie likes to take the heater vent covers out of the floor and enjoy the free flow of warm air from the open duct. She never puts the covers back. Here's what happened when she stepped on the exposed vanes. I took this photo in the emergency room while we waited for the doctor to stitch her up. PhotoFriday: Gross. P.S. She hasn't learned her lesson. She still leaves the ducts uncovered. Her next injury will probably be a broken ankle.
